Belize Mission Trip 2007
|
|
Day 1 |
(Heather) We are having a great time in Belize. Most of the group went to San Pedro
today while the other people stayed and passed out fliers for the kick off service tomorrow.
I am sending pictures of us passing out the fliers, school children in Belize (wearing
uniforms), people washing their clothes in the river, and a shoe cobbler. The people whe
are staying in town will be eating Chinese yet again! That's okay though we enjoyed our
day!!! Please continue to pray for us! |
|
Day 2 |
(Heather) Tonight we watched Roger and Keith play "football"
on the street in front of the hotel. Some people came up to play and we used this opportunity
to talk with them and pass out fliers.
Sending pictures of them handling a side of beef. Meat anyone? Also, pictures of breakfast.
We love the fried jacks!

Day 3 |
(Heather) Today was our first day of VBS. We were blessed to have 101 children,
18 ladies, and 2 men. After VBS, we gave out tracts and invited them to come to
tonight's service. |
|
Day 4 |
(Diane) We have had record breaking numbers at VBS and at the evening service.
Tonight there were so many people that they took the teens out to the room behind the church and
Jonathan spoke to them. I think there were about 36 of them. Inside the church, every pew was
filled to capacity and most of us workers stood. Ira and I had the opportunity to ride the bus
tonight along with Roger Longwell and Jennifer Donica. We had 68 on the first load and 18 on the
second load. Some of the houses they come out of are as big as my den. I am humbled. |
|
Day 5 |
(Diane) We are still amazed at the simplest of things here like the food.
We give food to the people who attend the evening services and tonight it was tamales. Ira and Corey
discovered why they call them HOT tamales as they were handing them out while Heather and I poured the
drink. They were too hot to handle. A lady named Lydia who attends the church made them and she said
she doesn't cook much anymore because she has asthma and the tamales have to be cooked on a hearth of
wood, but she had promised Pastor Jay (the misssionary here) that she would make them for tonight.
The tamales are wrapped in banana leaves to cook. Today was the last day of football (we call it soccer
in US) so Roger gave out the shirts. Pastor Jay found an interesting way to wear it as he drove the
bus tonight. The little kids press their faces up to the door of the church and line up about an hour
before it begins. |
